What You Need to Know About Getting Your Pet's Teeth Cleaned
Your pet has been diagnosed with dental disease, which is a common problem affecting pets of all breeds and ages. This disease is treated by thoroughly examining, cleaning and polishing all healthy teeth. Severely diseased teeth will be extracted during the procedure.
All dental procedures require general anesthesia. Due to the possible risks associated with anesthesia, we require pre-operative blood work, which screens for Kidney disease, Liver disease, and anemia. If any abnormalities are noted, you will be contacted before the procedure is performed. It is important to note that normal results provide us with baseline values in the event that your pet becomes sick in the future.
Intravenous fluids are included. Placement of an intravenous catheter and the administration of intravenous fluids allow the doctor and licensed technician to have intravenous access in case of an emergency and to help maintain blood-flow and pressure.
Dental procedures are performed Monday through Friday. You will be asked to drop off your pet the morning of the procedure between 7:30 am -8:30 am and he/she will be able to go home the same evening. Do not feed your pet after
