Is your dog in shape?
A recent poll of veterinarians found that almost half the dogs they treat are overweight. Several factors can play a role such as too much food and too little exercise. In addition, some breeds are more likely to gain weight. Females, neutered males, and middle-aged dogs are also at risk. Obesity can lead to breathing problems, heart disease, skin and coat problems, arthritis, and reduced activity. Stop by our office to pick up a BARC (Body Assessment Rating for Canines) quiz if you think your pet may be at risk, or make an appointment with one of our veterinarians so they can provide you with ways to help your dog lose weight and get back in shape. Be sure to check with your veterinarian before starting any exercise program, especially if your dog has a history of illness or injury.

Have you ever wondered what type of dog your Shepherd Mix or Labrador Mix really was? If so, then your pup would be the perfect candidate for the new Mars Wisdom Panel!
Hi, my name is Franklin! I am just over 5 years old and was adopted from a rescue when I was just a puppy. Everybody thinks that I am a Shepherd/Retriever Mix - what do you think I am?
***Update - Franklin has been confirmed to be prodominately Collie, with traces of Chow Chow, German Shepherd Dog and Pomeranian!***
The Wisdom Panel MX is a DNA analysis test which singles out the breeds from your dog's gene pool - all the way back to their grand-dogs! The test sample is mailed to the laboratory and results are recieved within 2-4 weeks in the form of a chart showing you what the major breeds are in your dog and the percentage of each breed your dog is mixed with.
For more information about the Wisdom Panel MX DNA Analysis test, call our office today!
